The LLM Basics
Let us start with the basics, shall we?
LLMs

(That’s you)
Hey Daddies! Let’s talk LLMs. Now I know what you are thinking. “ What the heck is an LLM?” Well, let me start by telling you what it is not. It is NOT a Llama-Loving Magician.

NO!!
Sorry, that was pretty dumb. Let’s get back to business.
LLM stands for Large Language Model.
What is it? It’s a computer program that has been fed enough examples to recognize and interpret human language or other types of complex data. It’s basically been fed the internet.

Baby LLM being force fed the internet. So sad.
It’s a fancy Chat Bot

Meta AI By Meta ( AKA Facebook)
Copilot By Microsoft ( Basically GPT-4 )
There are many more. But let’s not go crazy. Your homework is to find one you like. Make it your home page or save the link somewhere close by so that you remember to use it every day.
What it can do for you

It can’t make cupcakes. But it can totally tell you how!
Here are some ideas:
Whip up a story like your favorite author
Break down science stuff with cool analogies
Invent a recipe from whatever's in your fridge
Turn a poem into another language, keeping the vibe
Design a workout that fits your goals
Craft a killer cover letter
Create some catchy song lyrics
Plan out a lesson for teaching
Brainstorm ideas for a new board game
Come up with 10 ideas of what an LLM can do for you…
The problem is that when you sit in front of an LLM and think, “Ok, let’s do something cool” you quickly get overwhelmed and can’t think of anything. You end up just asking it if you are evil for not liking dogs… Not entirely useful.
What To Do
The truth is, you can find hours of content online to help you use these tools correctly. I’m not here to teach you all that! Just here to expose you to what tools you have available. A lot of them for free!
As I mentioned above, test out your favorite LLM and save it close by so you can easily use it when you think of a useful idea. Like anything, it takes some practice to learn how to use it properly.
So get going!
